How to update the plugin
Keep the Mercado Pago for WooCommerce plugin up to date to access the latest features and ensure the security and operation of the integration. You can update it manually or enable automatic updates from the WordPress dashboard.
After preparing the backup and test environment, follow one of the procedures below.
Update the plugin manually
In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
The list of plugins installed in the store will be displayed.
Search for Mercado Pago in the search bar. Then, locate the Mercado Pago for WooCommerce plugin in the results.
WordPress will display the plugin details and indicate whether a new version is available.
If a new version is available, click Update now. Wait for the download and installation process to finish without leaving the page or closing the browser.
During the process, WordPress will display the Updating… status.
Wait until WordPress finishes installing the new version.
The Updated! message will confirm that the process has finished, and WordPress will display the installed plugin version.
After validating the integration, you can activate automatic updates to receive future versions without manual intervention.

Troubleshoot update issues
| Problem | Possible cause | Solution |
| The Update now option does not appear | The plugin is already on the latest version or WordPress has not checked for new versions yet. | Check the installed version in the plugin row, below its name, and go to Dashboard > Updates to request a new check. |
| The update does not finish | WordPress cannot download or replace the plugin files. | Check the store connection and file permissions. Then, try again. If the issue persists, update the plugin using the manual installation procedure. |
| The automatic update option does not appear | The account does not have permission to manage plugins. | Access the dashboard with an administrator account and check the installed plugin list again. |
| The store behaves unexpectedly after the update | The new version may conflict with the theme or another installed plugin. | Restore the backup and validate the update in a test environment before trying again in production. |
If the issue persists after these checks, gather the WooCommerce logs, the Mercado Pago plugin logs, and the plugin's error history, and ask the Mercado Pago Developers Assistant for help. It is available in the bottom-right corner of the page.
